Celina, a woman leader of her community writes to me in a message that an idea has occurred to her, she sends me a photo of an abandoned container in the city and tells me: “Khirstiancito! We are going to recover this pot and we are going to set up a panama food sale” Rehabilitating an abandoned container in the city and transforming it into a local popular urban food is then the mission to create an enterprise and animate the southern part of the Plaza in an organized way Carabobo, in the center of the City of Caracas. This XL container (10mX2.4) can contain two independent local fast food outlets, arepas, empanadas or lunches. The first step is to prepare the space to be implanted with cement feet poured on site to receive the container. Second, to recover, move to the place, clean the rust and restore the opening system if necessary. A metallic exo-structure of ironwork tube will allow us to create a raised terrace of soil and vertical protections to generate excess to the container. These vertical structures will also serve to create a vertical spice garden, where Celina and her companion will be able to plant cilantro, parsley, chili and any other species necessary for their kitchen in garden containers made of recycled wood. This would support its sustainability and lessen its reliance on outside purchases. The terrace flooring could be made from reclaimed pallet wood or any other available reclaimed wood. This terrace will be the center of entertainment for customers and above all it will be identified with the aromas of the kitchen and the spices that protect it. The interior of the premises will be covered with OSB panels and blacksmith furniture and OSB countertops will be created for the cooking stops and preparation. Two water tanks on the roof and the possibility of placing a solar panel unit will ensure total autonomy and a minimal carbon footprint.CELINA is a project that responds to sustainability parameters through the use of mostly recycled materials, recovery of structures, food production and clean energy systems. I hope to be able to eat a “reina pepeada” soon with Celina!
